Our solar system

What I will share in this book will sound bizarre but somehow is fully in line with all known scientific observations in our solar system.

In this book I will NOT talk about the existence of dark energy, general relativity, gravity, the big-bang, the blue-shifts and red-shifts, black holes, supernova’s, etc. I just want to mention there are a lot of theories surrounding our universe. Some theories are more grounded then others but just to make it clear: Nothing is confirmed because we simply are not long enough on Earth to confirm all those theories.

The most important theory for us on Earth is – off course - we live in a heliocentric universe. Our Sun is the major star of our solar system. The Sun’s gravity holds the solar system together, keeping everything from the biggest planets to the smallest bits of debris in orbit around it.

To come up with a new theory about our solar system that could hold ground we need to take all observations and all known theories of our solar system into account. That’s not an easy task because it’s almost undoable to satisfy and confirm all theories since some of them are “spooky” and others are conflicting with each other when you try to align them.

I still have a new theory – fully aligned to science - which is as simple as it can be:

Our solar system is actually a cyclic & balanced system

Making a statement like this is easy and I am quite sure some ancient civilisation would also state it like that. Nothing new. This time in history however we have a lot of tools and observations to back up such theories.

I will try to explain in this book how our balanced universe moves in cycles of time, fully aligned to science and make it tangible in a 3D simulation.

I call it the Holistic Universe Model because it connects all observations together.

First of all, let me show you some limitations of the current heliocentric model.

  1. Incomplete

I researched the heliocentric model with all its precession movements, eccentricity cycles, obliquity changes, etc. quite extensively the last couple of years. Initially I just did it because I wanted to learn something.

At the start of my journey I expected to find a very chaotic universe, with planets having unrelated movements, but which was completely describable in formula’s. We have the technology to land on moving comets at a distance of 500 million kilometres away, so we must be knowing it all, right?

Along the way I realized however that is not the case. The 100% correct formula’s which I thought would exist are not there. There are too many margins to make them exact.

E.g. in The way planet positions are determined you can see the planet’s position can’t be calculated just like that. There are too many forces at play.

“The scope of the calculations - i.e. the range of years over which the model will produce acceptably precise results. If you are only interested in a few years to a few hundred years of the current date, then fewer “correction terms” are necessary in your model. On the other hand, if you want to reliably calculate the positions of the planets thousands of years into the past or ahead into the future, then the model must have every correction faction known, backed up by the most precise position measurements available”

Or over here Planet positions using elliptical orbits and here How to compute planetary positions you can also find more info on how planet positions can be calculated and are far from complete.

There is additionally the Three-body problem which makes it impossible to model movements with more than two bodies. So although our the universe seems to be running steady and stable, all current theoretical models all end in chaos.

Take for instance something as simple as the orbit period of Uranus or Neptune. They are not set in stone (yet) and the numbers we now have gathered as science are not that detailed/ contradict each other if you dive in them. There are only rough estimates.

Quote in Astronomical Algorithms, from one of the most famous astronomers, Jean Meeus.

    Quote Jean Meeus

Calculating orbits is incredibly difficult and even then some planetary movements remain unpredictable.

  2. Chaotic and unconnected

We notice a lot of movements around us which seem to be very chaotic.

In the appendix III I have tried to describe them from a high level point of view. These movements are all independent from each other. So e.g. precession, obliquity, inclination to the invariable plane, eccentricity and the longitude of perihelion values are totally unrelated to each other.

Additionally there is no explanation what is happening with the Length of Day, Length of Solar Year, Length of Sidereal Year and how they are related to each other.

So we have a chaotic universe in which all observed motions are unconnected to each other.

  3. No 3D model

One of the most interesting facts - which I didn’t knew before - is our solar system doesn’t have a fully displayable 3D model yet.

There are off course (3D) solar system models available. Most of them only show how Earth moves from a geocentric point of view. All those simulators e.g. Stellarium, Skylive, etc. are based on series calculation and polynomial interpolation. That is, based on real observations, a polynomial function of ‘n’ terms is constructed that predicts the position of the stars as a function of time. And it usually differs quite a bit when we move many years away from the observed period. As a result there are only epoch calculations available.

The orbits of the planets are open to long-term variations. Modelling the Solar System is a case of the n-body problem of physics, which is generally unsolvable except by numerical simulation.

But even more important: All current models of our solar system can’t explain and program eccentricity, perihelion precession, obliquity, inclination with stars according to their exact position in the sky in the background. So e.g. showing how the perihelion of Earth moves is undoable or showing how Mars aligns in front of star Deneb Algedi or showing mercury perihelion precession – which is at the core of our scientific model with general relativity - is undoable in all current solar system simulators.

See also the answer to this question as provided by perplexity

These well-established theories somehow can’t be programmed three-dimensional (3D) working together to be shown to the public how we on earth move around in our solar system.

Patterns everywhere!

In contrary to the missing exact formula’s, I could find amazing patterns in our universe. The most famous one being Venus making a pentagram around Earth.

Pattern Venus

”When plotted geocentrically – from an Earth-centered perspective – there is a highly noticeable rhythm in the motion of Venus. After eight years, it returns to the same place in our sky on about the same date. This is known as the eight-year cycle of Venus, and stems from the fact that 13 Venusian orbits (13 x 224.8 days) very nearly equals eight Earth years. Today, many know it as the pentagram or 5 petals of Venus.”

Note already the numbers 5, 8 and 13 in the pattern. These are Fibonacci numbers.

Another example is the planet Mercury rotates three times about its spin axis for every two orbits around the Sun, and therefore is in a 3/2 spin–orbit resonance.

There are a number of these clearly visible patterns, although we are rushing through space with tremendous speeds, never to return in the same spot again and the only thing that holds us together is gravity. That is quite strange.

So along the way I realized our universe is not that chaotic, as long as you look at it from a different angle. If you watch - for instance – this short clip which is fully based on data of the heliocentric model. There are patterns all over the place!

Fibonacci Golden Ratio

Patterns are not exclusively showing up in space but they are everywhere in nature. One of the most special patterns is the Fibonacci/ golden spiral / golden ratio based upon the Phi ratio.

While finishing this book in March 2025, the golden spiral was clearly visible in the sky apparently from a SpaceX launch (?). This is just one example. This EXACT SAME PATTERN shows up in multiple phenomena lately.

Challenge: Can we 3D model our solar system differently?

So there is no 3D model of our solar system available yet taking all scientific facts and observations into account AND there are clear patterns surrounding our Earth. Can we model our solar system differently?

I love a new challenge.

Let’s therefore “just“ create a new 3D model of our solar system structured in accordance to the most fundamental principle of proportion and BALANCE in nature: The Golden Ratio AND fully aligned with all scientific observations and facts.

The new 3D model will not be more or less correct, but will be EXACTLY like observed and predicted.

NOTE 1: Even an end has a start

One thing to notice upfront, the term BALANCE still implies a time element. It can only be balanced since time x. What happened before time x can be considered as the time to get to the (current) balanced system.

The balanced solar system as described in this book is in my view the solar system since roughly 1 million years ago.

The recovery of ice cores from Antarctica indicate the climate until a million years ago was driven solely by spikes of ~41k years, and since then 100k year spikes occurred as described as the 100k year problem

Climate change million years

original picture can be found on wikipedia

About 1 million years ago our solar system has adopted a new rhythmic which has not been fully cracked yet. I hope to shed some new light to the phenomenon.

NOTE 2: Even a start has an end

Additionally even balanced systems can become unbalanced at one moment in time. I don’t think there is an universal law that does not allow unbalanced systems.

So even balanced systems are specific to a certain timeframe. How long these timeframes run is very hard to say or predict.

Most probably there are external factors causing balanced systems to become unbalanced at one moment in time. These unbalanced systems however will always find a new equilibrium.

I therefore think we run from balanced system to balanced system across time.

Requirements for a balanced system

To come up with a model which can be considered CURRENTLY BALANCED there are a few requirements that should be med.

  1. Correspondence

All motions are connected and related to each other.

  2. MEAN values

You cannot have a balanced system without MEAN values. There is a certain rhythmic of the motions and sometimes the numbers go up and sometimes they go down. These numbers will however have a MEAN value.

    So we need to see:

    • Mean precession cycles
    • Mean Sidereal day values = Mean Earth rotation
    • Mean length of days & years
    • Mean axial tilt values
    • Mean inclination values
    • Mean eccentricity values
    • Mean distance to the Sun values
    • etc.
  3. Duality of forces

A system that equally balances out for instance five different forces is very hard to model. The competition of forces will result in only two major movements: One Clockwise movement and one Counter Clockwise movement.

Everything vibrates and there is polarity between two opposing forces working in a ratio upon each other.

Input parameters

The current scientific model has many unsolved contradicting theories and figures. There are many gaps in theories. Picking the proper right one is therefore quite hard.

Additionally apart from incomplete theories, also scientific observations can be contradicting. Take for instance something as simple as the current length of day OR the current length of a sidereal year in seconds. Since everything is fluctuating and can differ year by year or location by location, there are no fixed values.

We therefore have to make choices:

  • Which theory seems most valid?
  • Which number seems most valid?

And even if we pick a number, it does not mean this number is always the exact length, but it will be in accordance to the trend development of the number.

I have taken the below mentioned theories as truth to be used as input to the Interactive 3D Solar System Simulation:

  • Obliquity Formula calculations taken from Chapront et al. (2002) & J. Laskar’s to be found on see Wikipedia axial tilt and also to be found in the epoch_calc_v2012.xls as created by James Q. Jacobs which has a downloadable excel sheet.
  • Longitude of perihelion precession calculations taken from Meeus, Jean. Astronomical Algorithms. 2nd Ed. Willmann-Bell. 1998 Table 31.A. See also the link which results in solstice-perihelion alignment in the year 1246 AD.
  • Orbital eccentricity calculations taken from: Eccentricity time series, Nautical Almanac, 1974, page 75 in this book.
  • Precession durations taken from the epoch_calc_v2012.xls as created by James Q. Jacobs which has a downloadable excel sheet.
  • The model is aligned with Inclination invariable plane ~1.57 (No current formula available but only determined it is currently decreasing).
  • The model is aligned with the mean duration of a solar year as defined in the revised Julian calendar as presented by M. Milankovic.
  • A lot of J2000 values and settings from NASA are taken as input like e.g. distance to Sun, Length of day, planet eccentricity, etc. See the excel for all details.
  • Special attention to the planet longitude of perihelion (ϖ). They are also available on the NASA website but this site has presented the formula behind the perihelion calculations so you can move backwards and forward in time.
Output result

The result is an Interactive 3D Solar System Simulation, grounded with data and formula’s, which is scientifically fully in line how Earth, Sun, Moon and Planets moves in our solar system.
